Job Description

This position could be located in either El Paso, TX (preferable) or Auburn Hills, MI (will consider).

The mission of the Magneti Marelli (MM) North America (NA) Supply Chain/Logistics team is to drive efficiency in the supply chain from the source of materials (suppliers) – through our 12 manufacturing plants’ production efforts – to our OEM customers.  Supply Chain sub-functions include:  transportation, production planning/control, materials requirements planning, inventory management, warehousing & line-feeding, shipping/receiving, and customer service.  Supply chain functions are managed within SAP –  Magneti Marelli’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.  Attributes and competencies necessary for success in the NA Supply Chain/Logistics team are:  a positive, proactive and collaborative attitude;  competency in cross-functional coordination and planning; a “line-out” mentality focused on enabling plant success; customer focus; and an absolute thirst for excellence!

The Regional Materials Planner/Coordinator is responsible for advanced supply chain/logistics planning and new product launches including:


  • Materials planning beginning with development and evolution of the engineering and manufacturing BOMs ensuring Master Data correctness,  materials sourcing coordination with Purchasing, Plan for Every Part (PFEP) database establishment and plant logistics team coordination
  • Support the BOM evolution/updating process via the Engineering Change Request (ECR) and change management processes
  • Ensure robust procedures are managed for material/component phase-in/ phase-out


  • Ensuring integrated, synergistic, cross-functional materials planning from concept through mass production
  • Collaborating horizontally and vertically within MM and with suppliers to ensure volumes, delivery timing and supplier capacity supports safe product launches


  • Drive inventory efficiency from concept through mass production minimizing excess and obsolete inventory

Coordinate effective material management methodology focusing on:

  • Working Capital Technical Standard definition and monitoring
  • Establishing complete and accurate SAP/MRP system parameter input
  • Balancing MOQ with lean materials flow (coordinating with Purchasing and suppliers, as required)
  • Regularly monitoring of Working Capital at plant level
  • Consignment stock implementation with suppliers and plants
  • Define, manage and drive strategic banking stock development and consumption


  • Define targets for Production Planning
  • Follow guidelines for Production Planning methodology given by the Central Material Management teams at MM and each MM business line
  • Support plants to investigate and solve no-adherence between production planned and production output and coordinate improvement plan
  • Stimulate cross-fertilization and sharing of best practices across plants


EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university with a major in engineering,  supply chain management, business or finance.


  • 5+ years operational logistics planning and operations (production/materials planning, warehousing, materials flow, transportation)
  • 3+ years of working in a lean manufacturing environment (i.e., WCM/WCL)
