Job Description

The mission of the Magneti Marelli (MM) North America (NA) Supply Chain/Logistics team is to drive efficiency in the supply chain from the source of materials (suppliers) – through our 12 manufacturing plants’ production efforts – to our OEM customers.  Supply Chain sub-functions include:  transportation, production planning/control, materials requirements planning, inventory management, warehousing & line-feeding, shipping/receiving, and customer service.  Supply chain functions are managed within SAP –  Magneti Marelli’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.  Attributes and competencies necessary for success in the NA Supply Chain/Logistics team are:  a positive, proactive and collaborative attitude;  competency in cross-functional coordination and planning; a “line-out” mentality focused on enabling plant success; customer focus; and an absolute thirst for excellence!
The Master Production Planner (MPP) is responsible for overseeing the timely preparation and overall quality of production planning within MM’s nine NA manufacturing plants. The MPP provides regional oversight of production planning within each manufacturing facility in NA to ensure business and customer objectives are met. This role is highly influential as it works cross-functionally and leads without direct authority. To be successful, the MPP must understand customer demand, supply chain capabilities, manufacturing capability/capacity, and overall financial/business objectives. The MPP will serve as the NA lead in the Master Production Planning effort within MM’s  Sales, Inventory  & Operations Planning (SIOP) process, ensuring a collaborative, cross-functional planning relationship with the Corporate HQ (Italy/Germany), regional staff (Auburn Hills, MI) and MM’s nine NA plant teams.  Additional responsibilities include:

• Leverage SAP and other systems/tools in planning, analysis and reporting

• Define achievable production targets that maximize customer satisfaction

• Adhere to production planning guidelines and methodology provided by corporate and regional leaders

• Maximize plant productive capacity – identify and assist in mitigating constraints

• Support plants investigating/solving  schedule attainment challenges; assist in achieving timely recovery of backlogs, as required

• Stimulate cross fertilization, sharing best practices between NA plants

Coordinate the application of Standard Production Output and Performance KPI Monitoring system and monitor BL Performances in terms of:

• Schedule Attainment (Production Output vs Scheduled Output)

• Customer Delivery Performance (Delivery Output vs Customer Demand / OEM, OES & Aftermarket)

• Finished Goods Coverage (ensuring customer delivery objectives are met) 

Job Requirements

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university with a major in engineering, business, finance or program management.  APICS certification a plus.

• Role typically requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in production planning and an ability to communicate professionally and effectively (written and verbal) to all levels within the organization.

• Experience in manufacturing and logistics planning/operations required focused on lean manufacturing/World Class Manufacturing.

• Able to work with SAP PPDS (Product Planning and Detail Scheduling).

• Strong in Excel and SAP analytics (simulations, queries, report generation, problem solving).

• Comfortable working in an ambiguous and often changing environment.

• Proficient in integrating all necessary functions and/or stakeholder's required to successfully execute a project.

• Close interaction with regional and plant IT in maximizing performance of SAP for production planning, problem-solving and analytics.

• Able to interact and present to various levels of leadership on a regular basis in a professional manner.

• Capability to work in a diverse and dynamic team, proactive approach, flexible, problem solving attitude.

• Willingness to travel up to 50% in a given month (Mon-Fri); possible travel to Europe for additional training.
