This position could be located in El Paso, TX or Juarez Mexico.

The mission of the Magneti Marelli (MM) North America (NA) Supply Chain/Logistics team is to drive efficiency in the supply chain from the source of materials (suppliers) – through our 12 manufacturing plants’ production efforts – to our OEM customers.  Supply Chain sub-functions include:  transportation, production planning/control, materials requirements planning, inventory management, warehousing & line-feeding, shipping/receiving, and customer service.  Supply chain functions are managed within SAP –  Magneti Marelli’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.  Attributes and competencies necessary for success in the NA Supply Chain/Logistics team are:  a positive, proactive and collaborative attitude;  competency in cross-functional coordination and planning; a “line-out” mentality focused on enabling plant success; customer focus; and an absolute thirst for excellence!

The Key Supplier Manager (Logistics) is responsible for the following tasks dedicated to ensuring supplier preparedness to support MM’s NA manufacturing sites and successful product launches:

  • Support overall MM supplier quality engineering/development efforts targeting critical suppliers in MM’s manufacturing efforts (PPAP package review, run@rate monitoring, ISO 9001/IATF 16949 audits, etc.)
  • Perform Production Process Verifications (PPV's) at supplier locations and participate in PPAP review process and other aspects of APQP
  • Identify root causes of supplier logistics structural and process challenges (personnel, organization, production planning, materials planning, receiving/storing/issuing materials, shipping/receiving, customer service)
  • Coordinate Minimum Order Quantities (MOQ), lead times, and materials planning periods (“frozen, slushy, forecast”) with suppliers and MM plants
  • Define and monitor supplier safe-launch banking to ensure MM plant/program success
  • Monitor supplier production and delivery performance; ensuring proper reporting techniques are in place to maximize MM plant visibility and a common operational picture of materials, production and delivery constraints
  • Define and monitor MM plant banking of critical supplier materials to ensure MM plant/program safe launches 
  • Support Regional Purchasing and plants to on-board new suppliers
  • Implement supplier scorecards/metrics and analytical tools to quantify performance levels of individual suppliers and work with those suppliers to develop improvement plans to achieve 100% quality performance
  • Evaluate and assess the impact of nonconforming product and suppliers’ corrective actions, including timely communication with program team, MM plants and customers, as required
  • Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers to eliminate recurrence of non‐conformances
  • Train suppliers to meet MM standards/expectations
  • Drive “Zero Defect” culture within the supply base
  • Assist in the supplier selection process in support of Purchasing by conducting supplier evaluation audits, assessing supplier production readiness and overseeing supplier corrective actions.
  • Navigate within Supplier Web Portal (for supplier performance reporting) and SAP (supplier ASN transmission via Web Portal/EDI)



  • Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university with a major in engineering, business or finance Deep understanding of automotive quality management systems (QMS) and PPAP process
  • ISO 9001, IATF 16949
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training / experience / certification
  • QMS processes, tools and techniques (root cause analysis, failure mode effects analysis (FMEA), etc.)
  • Ability to identify data trends across parts, suppliers, programs and business areas.
  • Ability to work and translate analytical data metrics into defect resolution/risk mitigation plans/actions.


  • 5+ years operational logistics planning and operations (production/materials planning, warehousing, materials flow, transportation)
  • 5+ years in an automotive QMS environment
  • 2+ years of SQE experience (preferred)
  • Experience in a high volume manufacturing environment
