Job Description

We are looking for a Functional Safety Manager for our Auburn Hills, Mi

  • Functional Safety Manager plays a key role in defining and managing the ISO 26262 related activities for the “Magneti Marelli-Automotive Lighting” products i.e. Body Control and Advanced Head Light ECU’s. Also responsible supporting and defining the development process according to ISO 26262, Cybersecurity and ASPICE standards.

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Support, Functional Safety global team and security team in defining and improving the company-wide ISO 26262 and security processes at software, hardware, and system level.

  • Responsible for supporting and defining the development process according to ISO 26262, Cybersecurity and ASPICE standards.

  • Reports the progress of functional safety activities to the management and – in case of need - escalates critical issues to the management.

  • Responsible for assigning the resources for safety activities (including software, hardware, and system level)

  • Support software and hardware Safety Analysis, design FMEDA, FTA and System level DFMEA’s.

  • Responsible for creating and supporting the safety culture and safety awareness by providing the training to the software and hardware development team.

  • Assures that safety process is observed on projects (also applies to suppliers and subcontractors).

  • Responsible for creating the safety concept for Body Control ECU and Advance Headlight ECU.

  • Generates and updates the safety case report, containing safety evidence and argumentation.

  • Responsible for creating the safety plan and integrating it into the project plan.

  • Responsible for discussing the Design Interface Agreement(DIA) with the customer.

  • Responsible for performing the Safety impact analysis on the  RFQ/ RFI requirement package.

  • Responsible for approving the CR’s through Safety CCB ( Change Control Board) by following the Safety DRBFM( Design Review  Based on Failure Mode)process.

  •  Support the Global Functional Safety team in performing the Confirmation reviews according to ISO 26262.

Job Requirements

Education:  Bachelor of Science degree in Computers/Electrical/Mechanical

A minimum of currently active FSCAE/AFSP certification.

  • 5 years relevant work experience, in product development (ideally in automotive safety-related products)

  • Experience with Products Development Life Cycle (Systems, Software)

  • Familiarity with development in the embedded environment

  • The ability to communicate complex ideas succinctly and persuasively to peers, management, customers, and suppliers

  • Capable of multi-tasking complex projects while maintaining customer timeframes

  • Strong technical leadership, planning and organization/control skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must understand engineering safety requirements in order to produce the customer's product to meet safety specifications.

  • FSCAC/FSCAM/AFSE certification preferred.

  • Experience in Software Quality and process ( e.g., ASPICE, CMMI, IATF16949).

  • Experience in cybersecurity process.

  • Knowledge of Requirements Management tools ( e.g., DOORS).
